Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the insertion of a sterile needle into the body for the purpose of therapy, disease prevention, or maintenance of health.
How it works
The needles stimulate the body to heal itself by using its own internal physiological mechanisms via a vast neural, myofascial, lymphatic, and vascular network.
What pets feel
Not only do most pets tolerate acupuncture, but they seem to enjoy it!
Time
A typical appointment will last 30-45 minutes with needles staying in for up to 20 minutes.
Conditions treated
Acupuncture is used for a variety of medical diagnoses. Dr.Jenn uses it mostly to treat pain from orthopedic or neurological diseases. For some conditions, Dr. Jenn may recommend electroacupuncture, which helps to accelerate the healing process for some severe, chronic diseases, such as osteoarthritis and paralysis or weakness.
Treatments
The number of treatments depends on your pet's condition. However, most pets benefit from once to twice weekly treatments initially with chronic conditions usually requiring regular weekly, biweekly, or monthly treatments.
