Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)
PulseVet shock wave treatments are customized for your pet, depending on the age and condition being treated. Surgery and long-term use of pharmaceuticals can get expensive and have multiple side effects, especially in our geriatric pets. PulseVet shock wave therapy is an affordable treatment option that is covered by most veterinary insurance plans.
How it works
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is the use of a high energy acoustic wave transmitted into tissues to return chronic conditions to an acute stage in order to reinitiate the healing process, increase blood supply, growth factor release, and aid in bone regeneration to speed healing
What pets feel
Shockwave therapy is well-tolerated by the majority of our patients. Pets with noise sensitivity can be reactive to the loud sound of the transducer. We dampen the sound for all of our patients with cotton balls and/or towels. The majority of patients do not require any sedation or anxiolytic medications. However, if needed, Dr. Jenn will prescribe the medications as needed.
Time
The appointment will last approximately 25 minutes. The actual treatment time is less than 5 minutes per treatment site.

PulseVet's Electrohydraulic shock wave therapy has been used within the veterinary industry to treat equine and canine patients for more than 20 years and has been shown effective in treating:

Treatments
Depending on the disease or injury, your pet may require 1-3 treatments, 2-3 weeks apart. You may notice immediate improvement, but it is important to allow time for healing. Keep exercise and high-impact activity to a minimum in the days following treatment.
